Health is more than eliminating disease
The texts in this section provide more information on a number of topics that relate to our health. AKuarius Health offers seminars aiming to provide information about nutrients and the human body.
> The immune system
Many people unfortunately struggle with cancer, autoimmune diseases or other degenerative illnesses. Heredity is often blamed. Yet we have to take into account that a declining immune system can result from poor quality food, stress or an unhealthy lifestyle. Key in battling these diseases is to ensure a healthy immune system and to recognize that our immune system offers a natural defence to many challenges effecting health.
Our immune system is an integrated network of cells that protects the body against infections. This remarkable and very sensitive system reacts immediately when needed, but at the same time is a system with many control mechanisms. When these control mechanisms fail, the response is unmanaged and could become a threat to the body. The immune system harms other body cells and destroys healthy cells and tissue or fails in defending against viruses or bacteria.
Healthy nutrition helps to protect our immune system. Every day, the human being is exposed to physical, emotional and psychological stress having a negative influence on our immune system. Our defence system will fail if we do not offer the right nutrients on cellular level; the body's natural capacity to battle diseases disappears and developing degenerative illnesses and allergies becomes real.

What are vitamins and minerals? A short description:
Vitamins:
There are fat-dissolvable and water-dissolvable vitamins. The fat-dissolvable vitamins are vitamin A, F, D, E and K. The fat-dissolvable vitamins are mainly found in the fat in our food and can be stored in body tissue. The water-dissolvable vitamins are vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B11 and B12 and vitamin C. These vitamins are found in the moist in our food. With the exception of B12, our body can hardly store these vitamins. When there is a surplus, they exit when we urinate.
The history of vitamins:
Vitamins were discovered in the first half of the twentieth century, from 1906 onwards. When finding that food contains specific substances that are vital for keeping good health, the word vitamin was made up. This word combines the Latin "vita" (life) and amine (organic compound with nitrogen). Later on one discovered that not all vitamins contain a nitrogen element, but the word "vitamin" stuck.
Vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The differences:
Vitamins and minerals basically work the same way. Both are essential for many processes in our body. Vitamins originate from living nature and can be formed by some plants or animals, while minerals originate from dead nature and need to be absorbed by plants from the soil or by animals from the food or water they consume. Minerals and trace elements are substances the body itself cannot make. They are needed for, among other things, the regulation of enzymes and hormones. The difference between minerals and trace elements is the quantity in which they are needed for our body; we need more minerals than trace elements.
It is not yet proven for all minerals and trace elements that they are essential, in other words; really necessary for the functioning of our body. Known essential minerals are: calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium chloride and phosphor. Known essential trace elements are: iodine, iron, chrome, copper, manganese, selenium and molybdenum.

Refined sugar is a root cause of many problems. The functioning of our immune system is seriously hampered by consuming sugar. The negative effect of sugar consumption is discussed in medical publications worldwide. Sugar increases the risk of developing some cancers such as breast- and intestinal cancer. Sugar causes heart diseases, increases blood pressure, reduces production of anti-bodies, in-activates macrophages (eliminators of harmful parts), increases susceptibility for infection with diabetes and creates a shortage in vitamin B, chromium and molybdenum. And foremost: sugar reduces immunity.
When immune cells are influenced by sugar, they become unable to look for and battle intruders. Sugar increases growth of Candida Albicans, a diploid fungus that causes poor absorption of nutrients, chronic fatigue, depression, weight loss, and digestion problems. A teaspoon of white sugar may immobilise your immune system for as long as 6 hours, leaving your body susceptible to attacks by fungus, viruses, bacteria and parasites.
Obviously, consumption of refined sugar does not contribute to your health. Fruit containing natural sugars is an excellent, natural alternative. Avoid aspartame or other artificial sweeteners, as these are frequently related to serious illnesses such as cancer, but also headaches and fatigue.

Stevia is a fine substitute for sugar as a sweetener. This plant originates from Southern America and has been used for hundreds of years to sweeten local teas and dishes. Stevia Rebaudiana is a small, green, herb-like plant, its leaves taste fresh and sweet. Stevia is a low-calorie sweetener and does not affect teeth. In addition the plant provides vitamins and minerals. | ![]() |
Clean water is essential for our body. A possible issue with our water supply is aluminium sulphate used as purification agent for drinking water. Aluminium (providing a metal-taste) is considered a main source of a large number of neurological disorders. In addition the water supply system itself may be a source of pollution. Using mineral water or a sound filtration system are alternatives for water from the tap.
> Mental
Our mental state of being is important for staying healthy and for healing our body. An optimistic attitude to life is a predictor of a healthy immune system. Also see Mental Coaching.
> Respiration
Breathing is something we do without thinking, except when limited. Respiration provides valuable oxygen to the body and removes carbon dioxide. Many women breathe shallowly, resulting in a shortage of oxygen.
Respiration can be a powerful healing instrument. Learning specific breathing techniques helps to relax and calm an overloaded spirit, and with that to heal the body. An example of a breathing technique is the "Ocean Breath", which can be used when meditating.

Nutrient supplements are replenishment to your daily diet. When consuming "junk food", when you are too busy to prepare proper meals, when you are stressed, on a slim diet, working out or sporting frequently, your body does not receive sufficient nutrients and will benefit from supplementing.
But even if you do prepare proper meals, you would benefit from nutrient supplements. Research shows that the way our food is produced, results in a declining amount of vitamins and minerals present in our food. Food that is harvested before it is ripe, food that is grown on exhausted soil, refined or processed food or genetically manipulated and hybrid food grown to withstand plant diseases, slow decay or show better, but no longer containing nutrient content; it all adds up to consuming food which, over the years, contains less and less nutrients.
Why FitLine® nutrient supplements?
The FitLine® nutrient supplements we recommend are produced using modern technologies, but based on ancient health knowledge. The products comply with the highest standards, are unique, innovative and deliver proven results. The wide assortment allows your AKuarius Health Coach to compose a programme that fits your needs.
Very special in the FitLine® products is, among others, the developed and patented technology that became known as the "Nutrient-Transport-Concept" or NTC®. Easily said, this stands for the easy and quick absorption in the body realized by the extreme small powder- or liquid shape of the useful nutrients that can be dissolved in water, unlike other nutrient supplements that are pressed with "auxiliary matter" in a tablet or capsule. Using the NTC® technique the FitLine® supplements become effectively available for the approximate 70 thousand billion body cells where they are needed.
Another patented technique in the FitLine® supplements is the "Nutrient-Group-Preparation" or NGP®. This refers to the carefully selected combination of the different active substances together, resulting in an increased effect in the body, for example in delivering more energy.
All FitLine® products are produced according to the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) code (applying to the pharmaceutical industry), guaranteeing the highest quality and purity, and are voluntarily sampled for inspection by the well known Swiss Vitamin Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland. FitLine® nutrient supplements only contain natural colouring agents, no preservative agents or hormones.
For athletes it is good to know that FitLine® nutrient supplements are free from drug-related products. The supplements are voluntarily and frequently tested, also see www.koelnerliste.com. Just like in previous years, in 2011 over 1000 top athletes, frequently using FitLine® products, were tested on doping drugs. None were found positive.
